Revolutionizing Pharmaceutical Vessel Repair with GTI’s Patented Technology
At GTI, we pride ourselves on delivering cutting-edge solutions for glass-lined processing equipment. Recently, we given the opportunity to offer an innovative repair solution for a damaged 200 gallon 40” diameter vessel. Current options include a tantalum overlay repair, large tantalum or teflon outside repair sleeve, or most competitors would have deemed unreparable without a costly replacement. Each of the repairs are considered temporary at best.
In the before image, you can clearly see the damaged area has been prepped for repair using the induction process. After thoroughly cleaning the area and conducting a spark test, we determined the extent of the repair needed.
Using our patented Glasslined Repair Technology, the coil is selected based on repair size and position. The glass repair formulation is determined based on the age and series glass applied during the enameling process. The glass is applied then allowed to dry as the coil is secured in position to exacting tolerances over the damaged section. A program has been written for the thermal cycle and is monitored with both positioned and handheld pyrometers as the area is heated to the melt point of the glass.
The third image depicts the applied glass over the damaged area at removing the coil, leaving a beautiful "fire-polished" finish. The repaired area is spark tested and the glass thickness measured. Finally, in the last image, you'll see the flawless, permanent repair—an outcome that speaks to the efficacy of this innovative technology.
We provided a far more cost-effective alternative where competitors recommended replacing the vessel or using a Teflon sleeve—a solution costing between $10,000 and $35,000. Our technology not only saved the client thousands but also returned the equipment back to production in hours rather than days or months. their operations.
At GTI, we don't just repair—we redefine possibilities.
