Wounded Vet Event On Lake Lanier
A few weeks ago, James and Mandey had the honor of assisting in planning and attending a Wounded Vets Fishing Event on Lake Lanier.
This year, we included South Vietnamese men and women who fought alongside our military in Vietnam.
Also in attendance, Dick Calliouet, a Veteran F4 pilot whose plane was shot down over enemy territory. His parachute was caught up in the top of a tree for 18 hours. Special Forces troops were sent via helicopter to rescue him.
Pictured at the microphone with Dick, Dr. Wong, who was second in line for the final helicopter leaving Saigon as it fell.
James, the owner of GTI, is the son of a Veteran that served with 5th special forces. When conversing with Dick, James and Dick both realized that James' father was part of the group that saved Dick.
Tommy Bagwell donates the use of his incredible house boat each year to cater dinner and take the vets on a cruise after fishing. After dinner, an awards ceremony and recognition was held to honor the boat captains who donated their time to take vets fishing.
This year, 47 wounded vets attended.
