The Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) proudly accepted the prestigious SCIF (Safari Club International Foundation) award in February 2024, recognizing their unwavering dedication and longstanding commitment to supporting wounded veterans. For over two decades, the Georgia chapter has been a beacon of compassion and support, organizing a myriad of events aimed at honoring and uplifting those who have sacrificed so much for their country.

In the preceding year of 2023, the chapter orchestrated a series of impactful gatherings throughout the state of Georgia, providing invaluable opportunities for wounded veterans to find camaraderie and adventure. Among these events were serene fishing excursions spanning a weekend at Lake Lanier, where 37 wounded veterans found tranquility amidst the rippling waters. Additionally, 12 veterans were treated to an enriching two-day hunting expedition in the Macon area, while Lake Oconee played host to its first event, welcoming 12 veterans for a memorable Cast & Blast Fishing event in October. The success of these endeavors was made possible through the collaborative efforts of numerous organizations and individuals, whose unwavering support and dedication ensured the seamless execution of each event.

Among the distinguished attendees at the Nashville conference was James Lakeman, owner and president of Glasslined Technologies also the GASCI past president and Vet Committee member, whose unwavering commitment to the wounded vets earned him well-deserved recognition. Alongside James, esteemed members including current GA SCI president Lester Richardson, renowned author, esteemed television producer and host of several outdoor shows Jim Shockey, and past president and National Committee member Louis Cole, stood as shining examples of leadership and compassion. Though unable to attend in person, the indomitable spirit of Dick Calliouet, now serving as the current chair of the GA Vet committee and SCI National Committee, resonated throughout the ceremony.

James Lakeman, Glasslined Technology Inc. owner and founder, has been an integral part of the community for years. His dedication to supporting wounded veterans reflects not only his personal values but also the ethos of his company. Through his leadership and commitment, Lakeman has made a significant impact on the lives of countless veterans, embodying the spirit of service and compassion.
